The program cfd.exe or better known as the Broadjump Client Foundation is a troubleshooting software for broadband connections. Though the cfd.exe process is made and distributed exclusively by the Motive Inc., the cfd.exe program is utilized by various companies to be installed in their products. The file cfd.exe aids on-line troubleshooting for several internet service providers.
The program file cfd.exe is not a main component of Windows Operating Systems. Although, it is not advisable that users remove the cfd.exe process, removal is possible through the Add/Remove Programs application. The cfd.exe application also has the ability to replace some of Microsoft's redistributable DLLs and places a BJIPAddr.vxd or DevMngr.vxd in the folder of Windows' system.
The cfd.exe process is located in the folder C:/Program Files/BroadJump/Client Foundation/cfd.exe. Its known file sizes range from 3766912 bytes to 25600 bytes to 389120 bytes to 393216 bytes to 21504 bytes to 483394 bytes although the most usual file size of the cfd.exe file is around 368706 bytes. It can be run manually or at startup, depending on the preference of the user. It also runs when one of these registry entries are started: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunServices or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunServicesOnce.
