sage.exe Process Description:
The sage.exe file is a part of the Microsoft Plus! System Agent program.
The sage.exe file is not essential to the system. There are however, no known reports of malicious activity by the sage.exe process. The sage.exe process is a part of the Microsoft Plus! operating system enhancement package by Microsoft. This means that the user willingly and knowingly installs the sage.exe application to the system. Once installed, the sage.exe application is deemed essential for certain applications to run properly on the system. It is recommended that the user retain the sage.exe application to make sure that the programs installed with the Microsoft Plus! bundle run properly. However, in the event the user no longer wishes to use the operating system enhancement, it is ultimately his or her decision to remove, alter or retain the sage.exe software.
The sage.exe process deals with the day-to-day operations of the user's computer. Several tasks can be completed by the sage.exe application. The tasks include disk optimizations and other scheduled tools. The Microsoft Plus! System Agent also automatically tunes the user's system and performs necessary error corrections. The process has the ability to run any application at times the user sets.
There are several versions of the Microsoft Plus! enhancement pack. These are: Microsoft Plus! Windows 95, Microsoft Plus! for Windows 98, Microsoft Plus! for Kids, Microsoft Plus! Game Pack: Cards and Puzzles, Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP, Microsoft Plus! SuperPack for Windows XP and Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition.
The most recent edition of the Microsoft Plus! enhancement pack was Plus! Super Pack. The updated pack includes an assortment of themes, games, media editing applications and screensavers. Aside from the applications from Microsoft, the Plus! pack also includes content and games from third-party companies. For Windows XP, the Microsoft Plus! pack included the HyperBowl game developed by Hyper Entertainment Incorporated. Plus! features that enhance the base operating system or provide additional utility are generally provided for free in the next release of Windows. Microsoft discontinued the Plus! operating system enhancement pack in favor of Windows Ultimate Extras for Windows Vista.
