What is the .COE File Extension?
.COE File Extension Description:
In implementing functions associated with Digital Signal Processing (DSP), the COE file extension is used for Coefficient files in order to provide multipliers, which are efficient in their use of silicon and for their adequate performance.
The initial contents of the memory of DSP are provided by files with the .coe file extension, consisting of two parameters: the memory initialization vector, which is the so-called data vector representing the vector or array of actual memory values; and the memory initialization radix, which is called data radix, is the one responsible for specifying "memory initialization values".
The COE file extension can offer advanced techniques, especially for simulating, designing, as well as analyzing the digital filters. Furthermore, it extends the capabilities of DSP with its filter design methods and architectures for complex and real-time applications of DSP, including multirate filtering and adaptive filtering, as well as filter transformations.
In some software tools like the Fixed-Point Toolbox and Filter Design Toolbox, the files with the .coe file extension provide functions, which simplify the design of fixed-point filters and the analysis of quantization effects. For Simulink and Signal Processing Blockset softwares, these files also bring advance filter design capabilities. When RAM, Correlators, Memories, and FIR filters necessitate multiple data values such as initialization, bit pattern, or coefficient values, the loading and utilization of the COE file extension is a pre-requisite.
In 1996, there was a great demand for DSP to be executed at its best rate and speed. It was at this point that the COE file extension was tapped and the constant coefficient multipliers became the optimum choice for DSP. In connection with the demand, the technique with the use of the COE file extension offered a way to vary the multiplicand for a high speed data path.
The CGE or COE Generation Format is a Memory Editor file with dual purposes, for specifying and logging. As a log file, it captures inputs made by the user to generate files with the .coe file extension for the memory, and as a specification file, it defines the contents of files with the .coe file extension for memory blocks.Author: Xilinx ISE

Do you have errors with .COE files?
The Frequent Reason for .COE files Errors to Occur:
.COE files errors are potential serious Windows file system errors and many times are brought on by a corrupt program registry that should be repaired at once to prevent even further corruption in other software and/or devices. As long as the errors remain your system stays in danger of potential blue screen errors, system failure and fatal crashes.
What are the Symptoms of .COE files Errors?
.COE files errors bring on a range of symptoms, including: computer hangs while starting up or shutting down, applications lock up, decreased pc performance, built-in speaker beeps, trouble loading documents, sluggish behaviour and trouble installing applications.
