What is the .DEM File Extension?

.DEM File Extension Description:

The DEM file extension is used by Delphi as a reference to include additional functions and procedures to a certain project. Files with DEM extensions are termed as TMaskEdit Components, which contain objects and features that can be used in a certain Delphi Projects.

The DEM file format also contains basic country specific formats for TMaskEdit Components, which is mainly used in a Delphi application.

Two examples of sub-components embedded into a file with DEM format are TImgBMEdit and TImgMEdit. They contain alignment functions to format text in a Delphi application. These alignment functions include left, right, or center properties that can be included in any area of the project in a form of a source code.

A more complex sub-component is the TImgBMkEdit, which sports alignment functions, and some others like ShowButton and OnButtonClick Properties.

In order for Delphi projects to use the functions inside files with the DEM extension, they have to manually reference them into the project itself. Looking for the file that contains the codes and then referencing it using the application can do this.

After referencing the DEM file into the project, each of the components can be used in two ways:

1. Enabling and disabling the component (along with the objects used, as shown in the Delphi user interface)

2. Manually using the codes inside the DEM file in the text area of the project.

In order for the codes on the file with the DEM extension to be used when the project is compiled into a standalone application, they should be contained in the same folder as the program itself for them to use the component within.
