What is the .EUI File Extension?
.EUI File Extension Description:
The file extension .eui is a sound file associated with the Ensoniq Performance Sampler (EPS) synthesizer, until Creative Technology bought it out on January 1998. More specifically, the .eui file extension is identified as the compacted compressed disk image generated by the EPS application, which is a powerful music tool used to create sound effects and similar audio files. As a compacted disk image, the .eui file extension contains the complete structure and contents of the storage device or media.
With the file extension .eui, a user can replicate the content layout and structure including the specific contents of the storage media, which differentiates it from an ordinary backup method. The EPS generated .eui file extension is created based on the media's sectors, without regard for the file system where the application resides, making it useful in sharing or transferring EPS files to other computers. The disk image file extension .eui is a proprietary format, which distinguishes it from commonly used disk image file extensions like BIN, ISO and CUE.
In learning about the file extension .eui, it is important to have an understanding of the EPS device, which is capable of loading new music samples while the instrument is being played. The EPS can accommodate eight online instruments simultaneously, or stacked with the functionality of easily switching among the instruments with a touch of the button. Being a 12-bit sampler, it is very versatile and comes built-in with 40 sampling rates, which are stored in a sample memory of 480k, with an option to expand to a maximum of 2.1 MB.
The EPS updated the 8-bit Mirage sampler with its sampling architecture that provided more power and versatility to the user. The audio files that used the .eui file extension created by the EPS can be stored by the user either in the integrated Matsushita, or Sony floppy disk drives, or in a SCSI hard drive and CD-ROM drive, hosted by the expansion slot. The EPS expansion can also be used to insert additional RAM aside from connecting a SCSI controller. All files stored with the .eui file extension are disk images generated by the system that uses the MIDI format, and can be connected to either a Macintosh or PC.
