What is the .GVO File Extension?

Gfxfx, short for Graphics Effects, is a series of packages that contain C, Assembler and Pascal sources related to graphics programming which involves simple effects from simple 3D to simple bitmaps.
Gfxfx features some file formats that can only display an image, others can write an image to a file, but the rest can all display one single file format. Some of them use the following file extensions: BMP, CEL, GIF, LBM, PCX, RIX, and the GVO file extension.
Files with the .gvo file extension are vector objects created by Gfxfx whose shapes are defined by a path and are determined by points that are plotted along those paths. Their stroke color follows the path and their fill occupies the area inside the path. The stroke and the fill are the factors that determine how the file with the .gvo file extension looks when printed or when published on the web.
Each file with the .gvo file extension is made of many single scalable objects. These objects are identified by mathematical equations instead of pixels, so they are always rendered with the highest quality. They consist of curves, lines, and shapes with attributes that can be edited such as their colors, fills, and outlines. Changing their attributes does not affect them nor destroy their basic objects.
Because the vector objects contained in files with the .gvo file extension are scalable, they are resolution-independent. Their sizes can be increased and decreased to any degree while their lines still remain sharp, both on screen and in print. These files are not also restricted to rectangular shapes like bitmaps. They can be placed over other objects while the objects below them still show through.
Since files with the .gvo file extension originate from Gfxfx, they cannot be scanned and saved to other file formats without using Gfxfx. They can, however, be easily converted to bitmaps by using a special process called rasterizing. When these files are converted to bitmaps, their output resolution can be specified for whatever size you need but they lose all the special qualities they had when they were in their vector state.
