What is the .HYP File Extension?
.HYP File Extension Description:
The hyper.exe program is an application for analyzing enzyme kinetic data. It determines the Km and Vmax values of these data by using the hyperbolic regression analysis method. The values are obtained by fitting the linear regression of a Hanes plot, which is then used to fit the data directly to the best hyperbola. This program is very useful for research and teaching purposes in Life Sciences laboratories and in the evaluation of kinetic constants and data. Data files for the hyper.exe application have the file extension HYP.
The hyper.exe application can be started as a command line option with a file that ends with the HYP file extension, but if no command line is specified, this file can be loaded from the disk from where it was saved. The first time that the hyper.exe application is run, it modifies the win.ini in order to create an association between it and the file with the .hyp file extension. After that, whenever the file with the .hyp file extension is double-clicked or run from the File menu, it launches the hyper.exe process automatically.
Files with the .hyp file extension can be created using any text editor or any word processor saved in text format. They can be first contained in two adjacent columns in which alternates of substrate spaces, tabs, or linefeeds separates concentrations and enzyme velocities on the line. These files can be entered directly through the hyper.exe editor or can be pasted using the clipboard from word processors and spreadsheets.
The data of files with the .hyp file extension can be entered into the Data Entry box with one velocity and one [S] value for each line where each line has to contain a data pair that can be terminated by pressing the Enter key.
The results of files with the .hyp file extension are presented to four significant figures including 95% of confidence intervals. Along with the graphical output of the fitted hyperbola, these files can be printed directly to the printer or can be first saved to disk. Before copying the graphics on the clipboard, the graphics screen has to be maximized to acquire the maximum size of the graphic.Author: John Easterby
