What is the .LBG File Extension?
.LBG File Extension Description:
The LBG file extension is associated with dBASE IV, the first widely used database management system for microcomputers. DBase features an integrated development environment (IDE) with a Command Window and Navigator, a preprocessor, and numerous design tools with two-way graphical user interface (GUI) that can switch back and forth between these tools and source code editors.
One of these design tools is the dBase Label Designer used to generate labels that are saved in files with the .lbg file extension. These files can be address or mailing labels, shipping tags, name badges, Rolodex cards, and other related items that come with sets of predefined formats, which you can select from.
To create new files with the .lbg file extension, choose first whether these files are saved or "send to printer". After that, the label output format and page layout are specified along with the layout of the individual labels. Once created, the files with the .lbg file extension can also be saved as templates for use with other files in the label list.
The label layout is where you can select the data fields you want to use, either standard filed, special field or both, and where the layout properties can be set. The fields can still be edited by accessing the Label Editing options from the Edit menu. Some of these options are the usual Undo/Cut/Copy/Paste commands to manipulate text, the Bring to Front command to place selected fields in front or the Send to Back command to place these fields behind all other fields, the Line Floating option to set preferences for blank lines, and many more.
Special fields in files with the .lbg file extension include all non-data fields that can be used on the labels. They rely on presort information for their content and are only available for presorted labels. They can contain graphic image fields if their output is sent to printer using the Windows driver. Special fields have two types: the presorted and the non-presorted. Some presorted special fields are Container Label, In Country Indicator, Stream Code, etc. while some non-presorted special fields are the Barcode, ACS Checkdigit, BMC Number, Constant Text, Label Number, Record Number, and many more.Author: Dbase, Inc.
