The file extension .mbk serves as a backup file for the VersaPro Motion Block application, which gives basic support to the Series 90 -70 PLC. The .mbk file extension supported application, features three versions that cater to Timed, Normal and I/O Interrupt Blocks, C Blocks (also GMR C Blocks), Indirect References, and all Hardware Configurations with the exception of the IC697CPU790 module and the FIP.

Indices are necessary in locating and establishing relationship of databases that allows the execution of queries faster, thereby retrieving results quicker. The file extension .mbk assures that in case the original index file is damaged, there is no need to recreate the index, only to reload the index backup.
