What is the .MLV File Extension?
.MLV File Extension Description:
the LabVIEW MathScript uses The MLV file extension. LabVIEW, which is a shortcut for Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench, is a staging area and development field of National Instruments for their visual programming language. MathScript, on the other hand, is a high-level text-based programming language with syntax and functions that extracts complex tasks related to mathematics, data analysis, and signal processing.
When correlated with the LabVIEW MathScript save command, the MLV file extension transforms to a MathScript specific format. The MLV file extension format for MathScript is a binary file format. You cannot write data directly to LabVIEW files but you can save files with the .mlv file extension from a LabVIEW VI by using the MathScript Node. You can do this by just wiring any scalar, array, or matrix data and save them into the MathScript Node as input variables. Then, simply name the function, which is saves from the node of its filename. Do not include a path or an extension in the filename. The file will automatically be saved in the default directory for MathScript.
When running the LabVIEW IV, the MathScript Window opens the Function Load to load the input variables from the saved file into memory. The load function has the same syntax as previously saved.
When you using LabVIEW, you can choose the syntax you want for technical computing, be it developing algorithms, analyzing results, exploring DSP concepts, or processing signals. Correlating intuitive LabVIEW graphical programming with MathScript's math-oriented text-based programming language give you access to more than 700 commonly used functions for mathematics, signal processing and data analysis.
The files with the .mlv file extension go together in harmony with the traditional LabVIEW graphical features such as algorithm, mathematics, signal processing and analysis. These files provide users with a single environment where they are free to choose the most appropriate and effective syntax, be it textual, graphical, or the two combined together.Author: National Instruments
