What is the .NYF File Extension?
.NYF File Extension Description:
myBase is a freeform database application that allows you to create full-text searchable databases and organizes them into a tree-structured outline form. Along with these capabilities is the ability to capture information from a variety of data sources such as texts, images, web pages, spreadsheets, documents, emails as well as arbitrary files. Resulting databases ends with the NYF file extension.
A database file with the .nyf file extension is created before storing any information within myBase. By default, a new item is automatically added to the newly created file with the .nyf file extension allowing you to immediately store information and conveniently add your own info items. The information can be arranged in a freeform outline so you can set your data free and in order.
The size of a single file with the .nyf file extension can be up to 2GB, but using the maximum file size affects backup performance. Since myBase has the capability of running multiple databases simultaneously, you can still obtain unlimited database size without using the maximum limit of its file size. On the other hand, the info items number of the file mostly affects the save/load performance with the .nyf file extension since saving and loading a larger file usually takes more seconds.
More than one file with the .nyf file extension can be opened at the same time. Loading another file with the same NYF file extension does not unload the current one. The reason for this is that files with the .nyf file extension are Tabbed and each file with the .nyf file extension has its own tab that makes it easy to switch from one database to another.
myBase is based and powered by the SSG freeform database engine written in ANSI/ISO C++. This engine is powerful, efficient, stable yet very small and very easy to manipulate. It automatically creates a file with the .ssgindex file extension for every database file with the .nyf file extension when it is opened as Read/Write. The file with the .ssgindex file extension is a backup of the items indexes when the file with the .nyf file extension is corrupted. The NYF file extension repair tool requires the SSGINDEX file extension backup to work.
All information stored within myBase application is compressed by the ZLIB compression method. By default, it compresses files with the .nyf file extension at the maximum level of 9 in order to save more disk space.Author: Wjj Software
