What is the .RPD File Extension?
.RPD File Extension Description:
The file extension .rpd represents the database file format for the files related to the RapidFile application, which is described as non-relational and flat file database generated with the MMSFORTH code, a sub-language based on Forth Language. The .rpd file extension database's connection to the development language was established due to Tom Dowling, who was a lead programmer for both instances of the development process for both formats. Every file extension .rpd database occupied the same number of characters that it contained, which in contrast to Dbase databases occupied a specified amount of memory without regard for the number of characters it stored, based on a comma delimited format that were eventually converted to columns during the startup process.
The file extension .rpd database resided in RAM where most of its operations took place, allowing for faster execution compared to those that are based on the hard drive. The .rpd file extension represented databases contains a maximum of 64,000 records with a 10 megabyte database size limit, which was hosted on a limit of 16 megabytes of extended system memory for a whole database. For instances wherein the required memory by the file extension .rpd exceeded what is currently available, a swapping method is put in place to allow efficient transport to the disk, which is declared by the user under the environment variable settings.
Two basic macro types support the .rpd file extension database: Local, for all those, which are stored in individual databases and only, apply to those, databases which they are identified with; and Global which can reference all databases. The macro function associated with the file extension .rpd is provided by the built-in macro editor, where Global macros are commonly associated with the combination keystrokes SHIFT or CTRL plus any function keys, while Local macros are usually defined as a combination of the ALT key and any other alphabetic key.
The file extension .rpd also represents the file from the timetable schedules of the RosaPro application, which is based on a grid system implemented for scheduling, and likewise symbolizes the format for the RPV Printing System files that are used by the reporting tools, which can be integrated into any programming environment for more professional outputs.
