What is the .SLT File Extension?
.SLT File Extension Description:
The SLT file extension is used for SALT source scripts. SALT is defined as Script Application Language for Telix, a telecommunication software with an extensive range of built-in file transfer protocols as well as external protocols that make any kind of file transfer possible from within its system. It has multiple dialing directories, full access to DOS, advanced Host mode, and automatic queue redialing for hard-to-reach numbers.
The built-in script of the SALT command language allows Telix to follow sequence of commands using certain formats. The files with the .slt file extension can do many useful things such as performing unattended file transfers, logging on to hosts automatically, setting up special parameters, and other complicated functions. These SLT files can be linked to dialing directory entries so that they can be run automatically whenever those entries are connected and supplied the required logon information.
Like other programming languages, SALT has extensive features that cannot be easily used by novice who have no knowledge of programming concepts. However, the SALT scripts can be used to different degrees that even beginners can modify the files with the SLT file extension. Advanced users using the SALT script commands as well can program complex applications.
SALT scripts must be compiled before they can be used. The cs.exe executable included with Telix provides the ASCII source scripts that advanced users write, compile, or convert to forms that are easier for Telix to process. By default, SALT scripts use any name with .slt for its file extension; however, the same name with the .slc is used for its compiled version.
Some operations with Telix are highly repetitive like logging onto an online service, entering the same information (username and password), the same way, every time you call. Thus, Telix has a Script Learn function that allows you to create a log-on script that automatically logs-on for you each call.
While learned scripts are useful, they are not always accurate and may not work without editing. If the prompt being responded contains information such as the number of minutes left online, then the files with the SLT file extension need to be edited before being compiled.Author: deltaComm Development, Inc.
