What is the .VC File Extension?
.VC File Extension Description:
VC files, which stand for VergeC, are source code files used in creating role-playing games, or RPGs. This is developed by Verge, which stands for Vecna's Extraordinary Roleplaying Game Engine. It provides the free use of its engine to game developers and runs natively on the Windows Operating System.
Source codes with the .vc file extension use the VergeC scripting language, a programming language that similar to C and C++. A VC file uses all the basic programming elements, such as integers and operators, and has a number of built in variables and functions that help in the creation of 'game' components. Files with the .vc extension can be made in any text editor, and are compiled and run in the Verge.exe compiler.
Format formats in .vc have two types: the first is the map.vc and the other is the 'sytem' VC. The map.vc file contains all the scripts that make up and describe the environment and/or landscapes created in the game. These include forests, dungeons, walls, towns, etc. The map.vc works with a .map extension, which contains the actual map image. VC map files are saved in the same name as the map image; meaning, if the name of the .map file is 'town.map', then the VC file is saved also as 'town.vc'.
The VC system file houses all codes and functions that centrally make up the game. This includes the menu system, inventory, battle system, speech functions, and so on. The VC system file uses the 'include' function -- a pre-process directive that tells the compiler to execute the function before anything else in the VC source code file.
The latest version being used in creating Verge games is Verge 3. VC files are updated to be created under this standard. New features, such as networking, integration of mouse, game pads and joysticks, high color and resolution, and the use of clipboard, are included. The loading of image formats like PNG, PCX, JPEG, and GIF is supported. Module and Audio formats also supported include MP3, WAV, IT, and Ogg Vorbis.Author: Verge Co Ltd
