What is the .XXE File Extension?
.XXE File Extension Description:
As a compressed file, the XXE file extension is associated with various file compression software today. The .xxe format is described as Xxencoded data, which converts 8-bit data to 6-bit format and was earlier, used for transmitting 6 to 8 bits of data through a network.
Before, the XXE file format was used to transmit information through remote clients, usually as electronic mail. Now, the Xxencoding is being used in compressing various files into smaller sizes, for easy transfer with 100% content accuracy.
Since files compressed in 7-bit and above are prone to the possible corruption of data during transfer, the .xxe format incorporates a feature to compress these bits into a 7-bit ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) format, which can be sent via email, and retain its original data. Older email programs also utilize this format since they don't have the built-in support to recognize attachments in binary data.
A certain program called XXDecode will convert .xxe compressed files to their original binary form. This software is being used originally by UNIX and Linux operating systems; yet, further updates made it compatible for Microsoft Windows platforms.
To activate the program using the command prompt (Windows), the user needs to type XXDECODE then press enter to display the usage message. This will, then, prompt the user to input a filename.
Another syntax is: "XXDECODE -o <path><filename.xxe>", which allows users top produce an xxdecoded file under the specified path or location. The "-o" denotes a force overwrite in case the file already exists under the path indicated.
To activate the HELP command of the XXDECODE program, the user can type in "XXDECODE /?" or "XXDECODE -?" to open the help screen to reveal other STDOUT and terminate codes.Author: (,not applicable),
